Summary
MailProxy allows configuring a white list based e-mail filter. Only e-mails send from those e-mail Addresses configured in the white list are accepted – all other e-mails are blocked.
In case an e-mail is blocked, MailProxy can be configured to send a configurable failure notification to the sender of the blocked e-mail.
This is extremely useful in case you would like to setup a mail account for your smaller Kids and you would like to protect them from all this e-mail garbage which is around. Actually I am using it for my own Kids as well.

Summary
More and more e-mail Providers protect their mail servers from spammers by allowing only authenticated users to send mail. The login concepts used here are either POP before SMTP or SMTP Auth. Unfortunately there are still e-mail Client around which do not support this techniques.
In case you would like to continue to use such an e-mail client MailProxy is the right tool for you because it can process the SMTP Auth or POP before SMTP login transparently and independent to the mail client.
Summary
In case you have PCs in your local Network which are not directly connected to the Internet, but you want those PCs to be able to send and receive Internet Mail, than MailProxy is the right tool for you because it can serve a mail gateway between those PCs and the Internet.
